Fall is a wonderful time to garden in our area —less heat & humidity, fewer pests & diseases, less stress on gardeners and plants.
We will talk about the basics of fall gardening, including how to start seeds, which plants to select, and how to prepare and amend the soil. We will discuss the plants that thrive in cooler weather including vegetables, herbs, and other edibles; annuals and perennials that bloom all season; plus fall container gardens.
Fall is also a great time to plant trees and shrubs, as cooler temperatures give them time to establish their root systems before having to support a flush of spring foliage. We will also have some ideas and suggestions for holiday gifts and decorations from your fall garden.
