SUMMARY:American Bird Conservancy Free Migration Webinar
DESCRIPTION:“This fall\, more than 500 species of birds — billions of individuals! — will be migrating south from North America to their nonbreeding grounds. Each bird has its own story that spans hundreds of miles across multiple habitats. As they undertake the arduous journey south\, they may encounter depleted landscapes\, extreme weather\, introduced predators\, or glass buildings with reflective windows. They also may find shelter in a protected forest or wetland\, or food in a backyard garden. \nWith so many species\, so many journeys\, and so many destinations\, there are enough stories for a lifetime. Out of this abundance\, at our upcoming webinar\, we’ll put a spotlight on species including Bell’s Vireo\, Red Knot\, and Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Where are they now as they prepare for migration\, and where will they go? Where can we see them? What can we do to help them on their way? \nUsing tools such as tagging\, radiotelemetry\, eBird data\, and more\, researchers are able to track birds’ movements\, understand migration patterns\, and determine which habitats birds need most — and where conservation efforts will be most effective. Our experts will share what they have learned from studying these species and how they’re working on the ground\, with partners and with local communities to conserve them — and how you can help\, too! \nYou’ll hear from ABC experts and partners\, including: \n\nChris McCreedy\, Southwest Riparian Bird Recovery Coordinator\nSarah Belles\, Gulf Coast Avian Ecologist\nJordan E. Rutter\, Director of Communications\n\nIf you can’t make the webinar live\, RSVP now and we’ll send you a recording to enjoy when the time is right for you!”
