SUMMARY:UWF Gardens Tour
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special garden tour on Nov. 15.  We will be touring two gardens on the UWF campus. In both gardens\, we will be guided by faculty and staff that envisioned these gardens and brought them to life. \nThe first garden we will tour will be the Community Garden. This garden has grown from a vegetable and herb garden to include many fruiting trees\, a tea garden\, a pollinator garden\, and beds of native plants. Unique rain barrels\, benches\, sculptures\, and a beautiful pavilion have been added over the years. The Community Garden is a great resource for students and faculty\, and for the community\, as it continues to grow. We are fortunate to have Greg Tomso as our guide for this garden. \nThe second garden is an ethno-botanical garden\, planted by The Archaeology Institute on campus. This garden was planted last summer with native plants that were historically used by people in Northwest Florida for millennia as food\, medicine\, and for crafting and building. The unusual shape of this garden represents a turtle\, one of the sacred animals to Native Americans who populated this area. The garden has beautiful handmade benches to add even more interest. Archaeological artifacts can be found in the adjacent building. Nicole Grinnan will lead the tour of this interesting and insightful garden. \nThe tour will begin at 9:30 am on Sat.\, November 15th. \nThere is no cost for this tour\, but it will be limited to 15 people\, so that everyone will be able to see and hear the tour guides. \n** We added a few spots due to demand\, but now we are AT FULL CAPACITY. \n  \nAdmission is free. Please consider a contribution below to help support Beyond the Garden Gate.  Thank you!  🙂 \n\n\n\n \nPowered by
